I know … I’m not very good at keeping in touch with you guys…

BUT …. I will write you a long post soon with loads of news.

In the meantime, look at the amazing cover art for the Mexican edition of STOLEN. I love it. Maybe it’s my favourite cover yet. Mexican edition of Stolen

Sorry this third book I’m writing is taking a while to get to you all. I think, if I ever finally get it together … it’ll be worth the wait. Keep hanging in there guys.

Thank you so much for your continued support. Really appreciate all your lovely emails and messages. Sorry I don’t always have the time to reply to all of them – I try my best, but sometimes, writing gets in the way.

Stay tuned for news about STOLEN – the film.

Hey Lucy, so I read your book in only 1 and a half days and I loved it. When I read it I thought of it as a movie. So thats my question do you really want to make a movie out of this book ?If you already are then when do you think it will be finished. Also in the beginning did you ever think about Ty and Gemma being together at the end?

  15. by Lucy Christopher

    On March 22, 2012

Hey Sonya…movie is still a LONG way off, but is in very very very pre-production … stay tuned to my facebook page for more updates when I get em! And to answer your other question … yep, I thought of that … I almost wrote it that way, too! ;-) Lucy

Hello!!! I would love to thank you for creating the book ‘Stolen’, it had JUST the right elements to keep me right engaged in the story and I must say that you have such a way with words! My question regarding the announcement of a possible film leaves me wondering; if you had the choice to choose any well known (or not well known) actor and actress to play Ty and Gemma, who would be the most likely candidates? :D I’m really curious to know! Thank you once again for giving us this wonderful novel to enjoy and I wish you all the best in your upcoming books (which I will surely and most definitely will read!!!)

PS: The Mexican cover is exactly how I pictured the remote land in Australia where the setting takes place. :D Honestly, I don’t think I would mind such a place ;)

Ms. Christopher, I am in love with your book. You are fabulous author. I just got Fly Away for my birthday and I am about to read it. I was born without patience, so I honestly cannot wait for the movie!!!!!! And, if you are looking for a person to play one of Gemma’s friends in the “park scene”, I am available! (I do not have the ability to play Gemma though, sry!) Thank You for writing such an amazing book!

Hello! I read Stolen today and was absolutely blown away. I couldn’t think of anything but the characters for a few hours or so and ended up making a playlist for them during that time. :) I was wondering if you created playlists of songs for Gemma and Ty and their relationship, and if so, what those songs might be! Thank you SO much for writing Stolen; it’s one of those rare books that really stays with you. I’m re-reading it again right now. :D

  21. by Lucy Christopher

    On April 13, 2012

Yes I certainly did … you can find details of some of the songs on my STOLEN PLAYLIST on my Facebook Fan Page…I think it’s in one of the discussions or something. On my Facebook Fanpage you can also find two songs that were written after the book was released, inspired by the book itself. They’re just on the main page. Thanks for getting in toutch and writing such lovely things! :-)

Hello Miss Christopher! I just wanted to let you know that I finished “Stolen” in two days and I absolutely loved it! The night after I began, (when I still didn’t know much about Ty, but then again–do we ever?) I had really creepy dreams about him, haha.Your book really stuck with me and I was distracted all during school the next day because I wanted to finish it so badly (I may or may not have read whenever I could during class…). Although I love the idea of a sequel, I think that the openness to the end of your novel is part of what makes it so powerful. It must’ve been hard to end it that way though!
Also, I had a question for you. What do you think about fan-fiction, particularly fan-fiction based off of your works? Do you ever read it, or do you prefer to distance yourself from others’ ideas about your characters? I enjoy writing and after finishing “Stolen,” I couldn’t help but start writing a letter to Gemma from Ty post-trial. I just can’t stop thinking about them!
Thanks for writing such an amazing story. — Margaret (Hope to see you in DC sometime!)

    Hey there,
Im from Miami, very far from you haha and I literally just put stolen down, I have just finished Fifty Shades of Grey and I told myself I would probably never find a book to help me get through my withdrawal, then I came across Stolen, Lucy you are a captivating writer and your creativity is a gift. What a beautiful connection you created between Gemma and Ty. A broken soul being healed by a free spirit. Great book and im too happy to see that iit will be made into a film. I trust in you to make sure the film and Hollywood does not make the story lose its emotional depth. I know you are a busy person but I can only hope that the sequel to Stolen is in the works, I am eager for it and until then I will wait to follow Ty and Gemmas journey. Thank you for such a beautiful book.

    Hi Miss Christopher:
I am in Love with our book ‘Stolen’, it is a lovey and captivating book. It keeps you wondering and wanting more which proves the vague ending, however, i would LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE (VERY VERY MUCH) for you to write a sequel to the book. I guarantee you that more people like me would rather have the book of what happens to Gemma and Ty than the movie. So i am also begging you like many others have to write a sequel to your wonderful book.

Movie-wise, i believe that Ian Somerhalder would be a terrific person to play Ty. Although he is not a blond, he is awesome at expressing his feelings through his facial expressions (I’m a fan of his, I’m a Delana fan- Vampire Diaries). He is an awesome actor in my opinion, he can show his dark side and his good side. He also has mesmerizing blue eyes !!

I find your book haunting. I know so many use the term, but I seriously can’t shake it. I have purchased it for my best friend, a high school english teacher, to read and likely use in her lesson plans.

I am far oustide of your ‘target’ age group, but it is almost as this book doesn’t really have an age group. The voice you use is authentic. Being from Canada, the idea of a whole thesis on the imagery of the Austrailian landscape is fascinating. I would love to read it some day. I have read several novels featuring the landscape, most notably John Marsden and while I enjoyed his works, you description of ‘Ty’s world’ really makes me wish it was a little closer to visit (well with the exception of the poisonous snakes….)

I plan on picking up Fly away shortly and look forward to reading it. Thank you for your works!

  53. by Lucy Christopher

    On June 13, 2012

Thanks for your lovely, and thoughtful, comment. I often think a Canadian relationship with land is similar to the Australian relationship with its land: both are colonies, settled recently, both have vast amounts of unsettled territory, land is a source of pride and terror simultaneously. I love John Marsden, too – he was a huge influence on me as a young person, also as a writer. Hope you enjoy Flyaway too. Very best, Lucy

    Hey there Lucy!
I just loved you book, I couldn’t sleep at the end of it though! There were so many questions unanswered! But then again, I guess that’s what makes a good book, one that stays in your mind for a long time. I was literally in tears at the end of it and my mum thought I was insane! I just can’t wait for the possibility of a sequel it would be amazing!
As for th movie- do you think that other actors that are Australian themselves or American perhaps, could try out for the part of Gemma if they were well trained actresses so they could pull of an English accent?
Thanks for the lovely book, my favourite book I’ve ever read.
    Xoxo – Meg

Hey Lucy. I’m sure you don’t need another comment on telling you how wonderful the book was (which, of course, it was.) So I wanted to ask about Gemma before she was stolen. What was she like, what were her interests? Did she have any ideas of what she wanted to do when she grows up? Does she want to travel and was she into art like her parents? I ask because I feel like she only existed on paper, and I really want to know more about her.
Thank you Miss Christopher, for any response and for the beautiful book.

The moment I finished Stolen was when I felt I just had to contact you in some way and say thank you. This amazing book is absolutely life changing for me. I know it sounds lame but it’s really true. It makes me rethink my whole surroundings. I couldn’t put it down, my mother was in awe of how attached I was while reading it. For example, I finished about fifteen minutes ago and right now it’s 3:06 AM. I read through the whole night. I couldn’t wait to get to the ending but at the same time I hoped I never did. I cried like a baby during the end and eventually had to hold my mom for support. She said that now she has to read it. Can you please please please make a second book and continue Stolen? its such a wonderful escape for me. Thank You Lucy ^_^ I wonder if she’ll ever visit Ty in jail.

This is a first for me…crying over a book. But I don’t regret the tears. This is a book I’ll spread, a book that broke my heart and opened it too. I’m reading over this and its make me feel stupid, but I want you to know how much your phenomenal piece opened my eyes, and showed me life has a better meaning besides money, stores, and all the extra stuff that takes over the world. Now I walk outside and I know what’s waiting for me. Through rain, heat, snow, and any other weather my eyes will take in something I never even thought about. Something that mattered.

So thank you! I know I wanted a perfect ending. But after sobbing for minutes reality kicked in you can’t always get what you want.

I’ve been addicted to Kevin Brooks’ books lately, but by now I’ve read all the ones my county library has of his. So I went to the Chicken House website to read about him and look at some of the other sorts of things they published. I saw your book Stolen listed there and thought, “Wow, that could be interesting.” So I drove out to one of the farther libraries (because it was checked out at the one closest to me) and got it.

I started reading it at 9 p.m. on Thursday night. I could not put it down. I read for eight hours straight until it ended. Even though it was 5 a.m., I couldn’t sleep because I was so torn apart by the ending. I finally did go to bed but I didn’t sleep for very long. As soon as I woke up (not enough sleep later), I couldn’t sleep again because I couldn’t stop thinking about Gemma and–especially–Ty. He is so tragic and I feel terrible for him, even though I can’t condone the kidnapping. All along I guess I knew it couldn’t really end well for him, and the closer I go to the end, the more I worried for him, thinking, “If they put him in a concrete cell there’s no way he’ll survive…” I guess I felt like he was an alright guy who just went about things wrong. At times I kept thinking, “But he should know better!” And then I’d realize, “But how would he know better?”

Your writing is top-notch and so breathtakingly beautiful. Because I couldn’t get the book out of my head, I started reading it again the very day I finished it. It’s Sunday now and I’m already two-thirds of the way through it for the second time.

When I finished reading it, I think I wrestled with my thoughts and feelings about Ty the same way Gemma did. I got to thinking about how terrible it’d be to have Stockholm Syndrome, or even to have people think you had it, because you’d want to know what you should feel and what you do feel, and yet you’d never really know. I think I’m the sort of person who wants closure for everything, but in a situation like Gemma’s, closure might never come.

I think if I were her I would want to talk to Ty, to visit him in prison, maybe even break him out, and yet, at the same time, he’s still a kidnapper, and that can’t be condoned. It seems from others’ comments here that you may be contemplating a sequel. On the one hand, I agree that the open way you left it is one of the strengths of your novel and one reason it’s so haunting, but on the other, I really hope you do write that sequel, because–like so many others–a part of me feels like I’ll die without it.

I also thought while I was reading it the second time that I wished there were a movie, because Ty seems so intense that to picture both his looks and his expressions is so difficult to do at once, so I’m excited to hear that a film is in the works. I can’t wait for it to be released and hope it will be made available internationally so I can see it.

Thanks for writing this, and for giving your readers a space on the Internet where we can share our bleeding hearts with you about it, heh. I’m impressed that you keep writing back to all of us!

I saw on your Facebook page that you were soliciting what readers would be interested in if you wrote a sequel to the book. Since you asked, I have to say that I’m most curious about what Ty has been going through since his arrest. I’d be really interested to see what he’s thinking and how he copes with everything. To have spent your whole life being unwanted and thrown away by everyone except–seemingly–one girl, and then to be almost totally rejected by that girl and then barred from seeing her and locked in concrete for 15 years just seems like something too unbearably tragic for someone so wild as Ty, so I really want to know how he manages to deal with it.

I am in love with this book. I borrowed it from my library and then I bought it. I just scrolling through the comments… focusing on the role of Gemma. If you ever needed casting, would you ever considered one of your readers to play her if she was good actress and had Gemma’s look? like could we send a video?

I just wanted to say that Stolen was one of the most beautifully written books I have ever had the privelege of reading!

I SO hope that it will be made into a movie and get a sequel soon. I have snipets of happenings in my head, like the trial and Gemma asking the judge to let him off easy, or her visiting him in jail. Maybe its the romantic in me. lol.

I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for this amazing read!

Please can you tell me when the movie will come out and if there is a second book, when will that come out too… I so wanna know desperately…

Lucy Christopher, you are the most amazing writer I’ve ever seen… I know you hear this a lot, but I really love you! That’s why my friends pushed me into this so, here it goes. If they ever make Stolen into a movie, they told me to try out for the part of Gemma. This is mostly because I’ve memorized the book back and forth and I fell so in love with her character that I can’t help it! This had me going on for days to them about how much the book had captured me–I read it the same day I bought it and finished it that night… then read it again. I’ve always wanted to be an actress, but this… I dunno, I just had to ask. Crazy, yes, but they told me I had nothing to lose and I don’t.

<3 You're amazing and I love you. Thanks for listening to my awful ranting–reply if you can -^^-

Your book, “stolen” was brilliant. I just finished reading it and cried and cried when I reached the end. I so loved it!! it was so beautifully emotional. Please please please will you consider writting a sequel for stolen? Hopefully some kind of a happy ending? Pleaseeeeeeeee? I think I will go crazy if this would be the end of the book. I just love Ty and his kind heart and ..well maybe there would be some kind of another ……..better ending?

I so love to see the movie.

I saw that you said you’d rather have an unknown actress to play Gemma for the movie which I know will be a while until it’s made but anyways would that person have to look just like Gemma to get the role or would you be able to kindof change her to look more like Gemma?

    Hi Lucy,
I just wanted to tell you that you are my inspiration in becoming an author. I think your book Stolen is off the top! I tell everyone to read your book because I find it amazing, they always say its disguisting and of course i always stick up for Stolen because I find the book very romantic and enticing. Its very addicting and I dont know how but you got me to fall in love with Ty…in a noncreepy way. I really want to read your book flyaway but theres to problems. First, I cant find it anywhere and second I’m scared that it will replace Stolen as my favorite book. Is that a bad thing? Anyways, I hope you have more books coming out that are as fantastic as Stolen.

I hope you will be planning to write a squeal to it because I am dying to know what is going to happen like, if Gemma will ever visit Ty and what will happen to them both in the end! This book was heart breaking and amazing at the same time. I honestly can’t find the words to describe how I felt in the end, but I guess those were your intentions huh? :) I was practically bawling at the end and I thought about this book all the next day because you made them feel like real people. I just read your book Stolen (Finished it in one day) What an amazing book it was! I loved it so much that I had to re read it. I almost teared up when they took Ty away. At first I really hated Ty for what he did to Gemma by taking her, but as the book progressed, I actually began to like him and feel sorry for him. I actually became really attached to Ty, Gemma, and even the Camel throughout the book. I really hope you consider the idea of a sequel for Stolen. I really want to know what happens to Gemma and what happens to Ty after his court trial.

I really thoroughly enjoyed your novel Stolen. It was truly a captivating, emotional, and brutal read. Its rare that a book captivates me this way. I have not been this captivated by a book since reading Copper Sun by Sharon M Draper and 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher a couple years ago. I love how you took the reader on Gemma’s emotional journey with her. Its amazing how I was able to relate to Gemma throughout the book, and how I like Gemma initially hated Ty but then began to feel sorry for him and like him.
I loved the ending in your book and how you left the readers to ponder the question of whether Gemma really did love Ty or if it was really Stockholm Syndrome. Im still pondering the question myself. And im still pondering about what to think of Ty. I like him, but I know what he did to Gemma was not good, and its really left me pondering if he should be convicted or not. I hope that in the future when you feel the time is right that you will write a sequel to Stolen, and answer the question several of us are pondering- if Gemma really loved Ty or if it was really Stockholm Syndrome and what happens to Ty. This is a rare novel that will stay with me for awhile, it has consumed my thoughts since I finished reading it. It is one that I will re read over and over again, and one that I will recommend to my friends.

    Dear Miss Christopher,

Upon finding your book, Stolen, on Goodreads.com I was instantly intrigued, although a little unsure of it considering I usually tend to read books with elements of fantasy and science fiction, but having just finished a book of the same genre Stolen falls under I decided to keep an eye out for it. I found it at my local library that very day actually and got it for the heck of it. Having nothing better to do that night, I started reading and I’ll be honest, I could not put it down. I would have stayed up finishing it if I hadn’t had somewhere to go the following day. I instantly fell in love with Gemma’s character and her story, along with Ty’s. Although there were times I muttered to myself about Ty being insane, I seriously loved his character as well. I never thought that a kidnapper could be likable, but Ty was to me despite his anger and his stealing Gemma. When Ty stayed with her at the end on the plane, I’ll admit I gasped, and even got a little teary knowing that he would probably be arrested for kidnapping.

The ending was perfect, not exactly what I expected, but I felt it tied it up nicely, even though I’m still wondering what happened after and if Gemma really does have Stockholm syndrome. I leaning towards the idea that she doesn’t, but I don’t think I’ll ever know. To tell the truth, I’m content not knowing, but if a sequel to be written I would certainly purchase it within days of its release. When it was finished, I ranted a while and got tuned out by my parents because they have no clue what I was talking about and got stared at when I started talking about Ty being a likable kidnapper. Soon, I’ll be forcing my parents to read it because they need to experience what a wonderful and well written book this is.

While I was reading, I was actually thinking what a great movie it would be and was thrilled to hear that there could possibly be one in the future. Would I go see it? Oh god, yes!

Am I going to read this book again? Yes. A thousand times yes.

Thank you for writing this and sharing it with the world! Have a wonderful day!

P.S.: I have to say thank you one more time because you inspired me to keep writing, which is something I really love doing. Every author that I get in touch with I have to thank them for inspiring me to keep writing my own stories and visiting my own worlds. So, thank you! :)

    Dear Lucy,

I apologize for writing in again, but I had a few questions that came to mind after rereading Stolen that I wanted to ask you about it that I didn’t see on the page with questions about the book and wanted to ask you.

    1) What inspired you to write this book?

    2) Where Gemma and Ty’s characters inspired by people who know, or are they entirely fictional?

    3) When you started did you know how it was going to end and how you were going to get there?

    4) What are your favorite things about this book and is there anything you would change if you were given the chance?

    5) Would you have reacted differently, and if yes, how, if you were in Gemma’s position?

    6) What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

    7) How did you come up with the two main characters’ back stories?

    Thank you,

I absolutely love stolen! I borrowed it from a friend a while ago in my native language but after I gave it back I bought it in English because I just had to read it again! I can’t wait for the movie, I think I’ve read the book about 10 times now! Wish I was an actress and lived in England, I’d totally love playing Gemma. Unfortunately I’m not English, not an actress and I don’t look like Gemma.
I also want to thank you for writing this amazing book, it totally changed my perspective on things.
I’m definitely going to read your other books and I also hope there is going to be a sequel to stolen!

I just finished your book stolen and it has gotten into me so bad. Amazing work Lucy.
The characters were so real and about ty, he is so beautiful. I am so much in love with that book. I really really hope that you make a sequel because it kinda hurts to see ty like that. Idk why but I’m so attached to him. I can’t bear the fact that he has to stay in the prison. I love him so much and want the best for him.
I can right now imagine the desert completly empty, there is no gemma and no ty. They left :(. I want to see ty happy for once in his life, he’s been through so much and i think he deserves hapiness like normal people. So many people and my friends want you to think about the sequel. Please think about writing a sequel and make it a happy ending, even if they don’t end up together, its fine, i just want ty to be happy. Thank you so much Lucy for this marvelous book. I don’t where my life would have been if I had no
t read this book, thank you so much.

It is currently 12:13 on a school night and i can’t help but have been SOBBING for hours. Stolen is such a magnificent book. Please, show mercy on my heart and write a sequel. You have completely captivated me in every aspect of this book and it constantly lingers in my mind. Im latched! No amount of thanks i could give to read more on the story of Ty and Gemma. YOU NEED TO WRITE A SEQUEL PLEASE. It broke my heart that she left him behind sitting in a cell… confined. That their love will diminish and she’s throwing him away in memory. I want her to remember forever what she felt. I want her to love him the way he loved her.. Its just torn me apart and I think everybody would be ecstatic about a new book!!!!

While reading this I could definitely see a movie being made out of it and I did some research and found that there hopefully will be! Do you know when it would be coming out? I’d love to know and be the first to buy a ticket!

Hey Lucy Christopher! Stolen was amazing! The whole time I was reading this book I never wanted to finish it at all because it was so captivating and hard to put down. I read it in one day and stayed up too late but it was worth it. I decided that I did not want to accept that it was over and did a little research to see if there was a sequel or even a movie! Honestly I am relieved to hear you want a sequel and a movie! I am anticipating for that day to come when I reread Stolen in order to read the sequel or even watch the movie!!! AHHHHH I am soo excited! I am definitely looking forward to more books that you will right in the future! Thank you for the amazing book, Stolen! :)

    Hi, Lucy Christopher

Your book stolen is amazing! My friends and I live in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and we are reading your book. When I started reading this book, I really didn’t like Ty because why would he do that to a girl who was being so nice to him. Later on, in the book, I realized that Ty was right all along because he gave her a new beginning to Gemma. From this book I took a lesson with me too that not all people are what you think they are. For example, Gemma hated him because she thought that Ty was going to kill her, but later on, she realized that he wasn’t going to do anything, he just wants to protect her. My friends and I had a question about the book. Will there ever be a movie about this movie? Also, Thank you for letting us all read a wonderful book.

    Dear Ms. Lucy Christopher,

I read your Stolen today (Thai version) and finished it in six hours. I have to admit that I did’t like it at first but after reading it for awhile, it’s become very addicted. However, the ending kinda piss me off. I understand that this is the perfect-sense for the ending and make the story worthwhile but I still hope for a sequel which Ty will be happier with Gemma.
Please write a sequel soon. I believe there’s a lot of fan who wait for it. (Sorry for my Bad English. This is my first time commenting something on the internet.)
