Can you judge a book by its cover?

Fire, Sand, Blood
Release is a mixture of thriller and literary fiction (well, that’s how I think of it anyway!), and when I first saw the cover, I thought WOW, I love this and it captures the story perfectly.
The image could be red dust from the Australian outback, but it could also be blood, or fire, or rage. I really like the black background and the sense of simplicity and focus it creates. Text have done an amazing job creating it.
What do you think?
We all know not to judge books by their covers, but I have to say this is a pretty good match. And for those who have read Stolen, it may trigger some thoughts on what Release is about. I’d love to know those thoughts so feel free to leave a comment below.

Will there be another book after release given that we don’t have Tyler’s pov yet?
Will it be released in the US on June 2022?
I LOVE the cover! It’s simple yet there’s so many interpretations it has. Simple on the outside, but once we read the book, it’ll be just the opposite. I cant wait to read RELEASE and see how the story unfolds. So excited!!
To say I’m excited for Release is an understatement. The cover is so fitting. Less is more here — just like Stolen’s cover. I can’t even begin to tell you how long I’ve been longing for this sequel. I’ve re read Stolen so many times, cried so many tears and the feeling I felt reading it left me… speechless. I’m so ready to dive into the world of Release. Congratulations Lucy. Thank you for you. You are loved.
Hey Lucy! Will there be an ebook available on the day of the book release? Unfortunately I live in a country where delivery is not an option. I’d be really grateful for your response.
Hi Victoria,
I’m pretty sure the book will be released digitally. Most likely on Kindle. I will mention it to my publishers.
I’ve never had a book do what your book has done to me
I LOVE THE COVER. I have been desperately waiting for the sequel since i was 14. The cover is a gorgeous depiction of the setting.
Love it. For me, less is more with a cover. The color is a feeling of anger and passion. The sand does tie in this book with Stolen. It just “looks” like it will be a good read.
Hi Lucy! I adore the cover & it makes me beyond excited for the release of, well… Release!
I was only a teenager when Stolen came out and I absolutely fell in love with Gemma’s story. It’s one of the only YA books that has followed me into adulthood, and I still sometimes find myself thinking of the story.
I had always hoped there would be a sequel (and a movie…), but never actually thought one would be written. I think I made an audible yelp when I first read on your Twitter that you had decided to pursue a second instalment!
I’m ridiculously excited to read Release, and given that it’s a step away from YA… all the more excited! BRB while I read Stolen… again.
I love it! If I saw this book in a store w/o knowing about Stolen, it would catch my eye and I’d give it a fast read to try it!
